Environmental Researh Center,NTU
The site is located at the foot of a hill, a rare quiet corner in the City. In this irregular site, these is an existing campus recycling plant, and there is plan to build a campus animal holding facility in the future. The building program includes research laboratories in environmental science, and a stepped classroom for training.
The layout locates the classroom at street corner, which may be shared with animal holding facility. Its massing is of a oval shape, with a spiral ramp embracing the volume. The ramp is covered with grating that will be covered with ivy that provides both insulation and outlook. Laboratories are located in a bar-shaped building, with modular unit and duct spaces. There is a balcony to its southeast facing the main street, and a test tube like facade is proposed to provide both the lab. theme and also shading. Its back corridor is also covered with green grating. The color scheme of green and dard beige responds to the overall environment.
