MacKay Junior College of Medicine, Nursing, and Management was founded on Guandu campus in 1913, which is located on a hill at the intersection of Guandu plain, Keelung and Tamsui river, with views of Taipei basin and Guanyin mountain, and at visually strategic location along Dadu arterial road that links Taipei city and Tamsui area. 
The College plans to make long term planning of the campus by demolishing all but two existing buildings, which are General classroom and Tze-Hui buildings. An existing “Shell Plaza” shall be re-configured by the new and two existing buildings and angular layout that is reminiscent of old hill town.

The New Building shall accommodate general and specialized classrooms, administration offices, cafeteria, multi-function auditorium, parking facility, and new campus entrance. The plan is composed of one rectangular and one squarish wing joined by open atrium. The squarish wing shall provide cafeteria on ground and multifunction auditorium on the top two floors.

Along Holy Scene (Shen-Jin) road perimeter wall, three are openings to accommodate the needs of waste material collection, shuttle bus drop-off area, new campus (pedestrian) entry, and garage entry. Viewing along progression of the new campus entry is protected from the stark utilitarian hi-voltage transmission tower right on Shen-Jin Road. New parking garage is connected to parking area of existing building. 
With its geological strategic location, the hill, existing retaining wall, and the New Building’s base with regular grid are integrated into a “Monolith”, a metaphor referring to Mount Sinai and symbolizing mission of the College. Upper part of the Building takes inspiration of stained glass of religious buildings. Solemn brick and stone material echoes with light and transparent glass and metal, and provide firmness and light to the interiors. Ridge line silhouette of the roof shall emerge as a landmark image along Dadu arterial road.
