The Project is located in Taoyuan Special District for Arts and Culture, an re-zoned area with cultural facilities and high-end development. The design issue is to deal with surronding buildings with much larger volumes and retain an unique identity. The strategy is to select light granite as main exterior material, and enhance visual height by the technique of false perspective. The latter is through providing 3-story, 2-story, and 1-story tiers, starting from ground floor, on the front facade to result in visually stretched height. Like traditional shophouses, front and back facades are two main exposure, and they are offset from structure lines so that a free and shifting manipulation is possible. These techniques from classical buildings are applied to create new possibilities.
